Halloween Library Day

We had such a great time at the library today!  The kids all wore their costumes and we found it amusing that so many of them were animals.

We read the story A Mother For Choco and talked about families.  (Really great adoption story and helpful for teaching kids that appearance doesn't matter.  Choco is a yellow bird who is adopted by Momma Bear who has also adopted an alligator, a pig, and a hippo.)

Then we had 3 stations: painting miniature pumpkins, matching animal pictures with their habitat (jungle, ocean, savannah, farm), and making a spiderweb out of yarn, chairs, and people.

When LaDonna gets the pictures up you'll be able to see how fun it was!

Pumpkins for Literacy

We tried a new Pumpkin Patch this year and loved it:  The Plant Farm in Marysville.  http://www.theplantfarm.com/events.htm

They have a mock pumpkin patch with real pumpkins on nice clean grass.  I didn't miss the mud.  They also have some live farm animals, a train ride, a hayride, and lots of space to run around in.  All the proceeds benefit a Literacy Program.

We rode the train a couple of times, took a hay ride, talked to the animals, ate lunch in the picnic area, and spent hours hunting for the perfect pumpkins.  The older kids had a great time pushing their pumpkins around in wheelbarrows.

Can't wait to see all the pics LaDonna took!
